Spring snorkeling...... Sort of

snorkeling
/ˈsnôrk(ə)liNG/
noun
  1. the activity or pastime of swimming using a snorkel.
"the sea is incredibly clear, which is ideal for snorkeling"

"Shaaaaaaaa!" in the words of our shredding, sport bike riding snorkeling guide.

I hear it was quite fun. Unfortunately, we weren't given all the pertinent information like "hey, we don't have enough wetsuits" "or snorkeling gear" "and also the water is only 72 degrees" . I guess I shouldn't be surprised - I'm sure his brain is overflowing with other important info like "ye ye" "shaaa" and "shredding it up". So we didn't all get to enjoy the actual act of snorkeling. (And despite my great uncle instilling ALL that confidence in me that an alligator would leave me alone if I happened upon one, I was actually solidly looking forward to it.) However, we have all gained some totally awesome cowabunga-ish type vocab that we will never use. Shaa.

BUT a few of us did get to snorkel and Ruth was bold enough to go out in just her swimsuit for a few, so props to that girl.

The bright side is that Alexander Springs is beautiful! It's on the smaller side and wasn't too busy, and even though we were called out of the water for about an hour because of thunderstorms, the weather cleared and everybody got to enjoy about 2 more hours of fun.

The water is that aqua blue/green color especially where the spring, well, springs up.

It stays about thigh to waist deep a very long way out and it is super clear.

Despite not having wetsuits, we all braved the cold water for a good bit of time. Ben and Israel were the lucky two with suits so they had hours of snorkeling fun finding all sorts of treasures.

Theodore loved it. We had him in the water until we physically had to pull him out because he was purple. And I got to swim with goggles amongst little fishies.

It was super fun and a great experience. Little cold. Lots of sap. But fun.

  1. I enjoyed this post so much! You had me laughing out loud by the second paragraph. And isn't it amazing how Brave the girls are going into that cold Crystal Clear Spring in their bathing suits while the guys were in snorkeling suits! 👍 once again the Taylor's braved the prospect of alligators with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm. Go Theodore! , seeing him so happy makes me happy! Another fun day of vacation fills me with joy! Shaaaaa Dudes!! 😊🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
